Abstract

80
The note describes the characteristics of the Master/Disciple relationship as a universal binomial which is found throughout the history of humanity. It is a primary, mysterious, dialectic, free relationship, developed by two equal and different individuals in search of truth, who in this search wish to become better. The text goes on to examine the possible pathology of the relationship. The most noticeable defects of the disciple or pupil may be irreverence, and its opposite, hero worship. On the master’s side, the relationship becomes corrupted when the master’s position in itself is desired and when it becomes routine, or invades the personality of the disciple.
