Abstract

93
The relevance of natural law theory for our present historical circumstance is argued on the grounds that it is imperative to maintain both the unity of basic principles and the variety of cultural circumstances; the inconditional character of moral law, as well as its practical possibility. Thinking of Natural Law as the Law of our practical reason, in charge of applying universal principles, to contingent circumstances, allows us to give an account of human agency as a reality tensionfilled. The article argues, finally, that the integrity of natural law theory requires the reference to eternal law, as the ultimate source of normativity.
