Abstract

162
In our cultural milieu, the religious question is formulated in terms of «How to say “God”?». This query is concretized in a privileged way in the sphere of aesthetic experience. It is within this perspective that the author proposes a theology of music, taking the latter as the epiphany of the Mystery, derived from experience, empathy and conversion. The study draws attention to composers who interpret the Word by carrying it into an empathic comprehension, which is beyond all explanation. When it comes to saying anything about the Ineffable and the mystery of its communicability, theologians ought to be sensitive to meta-linguistic languages such as music and aesthetic perception. In these they may discover a way of communicating the aesthetic perception of the Mystery of a self-revealing God.
