Abstract

579
Athanasius of Alexandria wrote his work De synodis in 359, during a period of great theological confusion. Many synods were held in few decades and their decisions were not always coherent, and sometime contradictory. In this context, the Bishop of Alexandria tries to establish some criteria to interpret the synodical decisions. The present article aims to identify and to classify these hermeneutical criteria as they are presented in De synodis.
