Abstract

164
A human cranium, recovered during the archeological excavation of the Aizibita megalithic tomb (Cirauqui, Navarra) is described. The cranium has a perforation in the left parietoccipital region of 30 cm2 with unequivocal cicatrization signs. After considering the different diagnostics of a trepanation or a wound in the scapl, and describing other parallel examples, the diagnostic of a chipped fracture caused by a short contusive type of weapon, is established.
