Abstract

217
The most important methods for the reconstruction of the structure and dynamics of past human populations have been explained. The dosage of trace elements and stable isotopes contribute to the palaeonutritional reconsatruction. On the other hand, the determination of ABO blood groups and the characterization of DNA sequencies from ancient human tissues are reliable methods for the biological reconstruction of the history of human populations. The main problems related to the analytical procedures and to the interpretation of the results (diagenesis, contamination and degradation) have been discussed.
