Abstract

This article is about the work done in recent years in the field of the Late Roman Republic in Navarra, as a continuation of studies presented in the I and II Colloquium in Ancient History of this territory by ourselves and also by J. Andreu and Á. A. Jordan. The focus of this paper is the figure of Pompey the Great (cos. I 70 BC), founder of the city of Pamplona, to which he gave his name. We review the new theories on various points connected with this person and with Navarra.
