Abstract

661
The phenomenon of the overlapping among figures in Palaeolithic rock art has interested the researchers since its discovery. Nevertheless, at present there are still in force two antagonistic interpretative lines. For the first researchers, represented for H. Breuil, the overlappings constituted genuine parietal stratigraphies, where the stylistic evolution of the Palaeolithic Art could be analysed. Structuralists headed for A. Laming‐Emperaire and A. Leroi‐Gourhan, on the other hand, explained the overlappings as a synchronic composition resource. In this paper we want to propose a trend of temporary change in the use of the overlappings. This change is observable, at least, in the record of Cantabrian region.
