Firstly, the author discusses on the convenience of notes. It is true that they interrupt and disturb the reading, but we must also accept that many times, and particularly in Quevedo, the modern reader, our students for example, could not understand anything at all without some explanations. Secondly, the necessity of a correct annotation is considered: the editor is seen as the intermediary between the classical text and modern reader. A mistake in the note could provoke the misunderstanding of the text by modern reader. Thirdly, professor Arellano discusses about the problem of the existence of different readers and different editions. And last but not least, he analyses the elements and conditions that annota-tions should have and the place of notes in a modern edition.
