Abstract

It has been found that hypoxia resulted in a wasteful over consumption of oxygen by the heart with a consequent myocardial ischaemie. This ischaemic is reflected on the electrocardiogram.

We found levelling of the ST segment and lengthening of QT and QRS spaces. and rhythm disturbances such as bradyeardia.

Diastolic blood pressure was augmented and sistolic blood pressure fall.

The hypoxia also induced changes on the electrolytes plasmatic levels. We found an increase of Na+ and a decrease of K+ plasmatic levels.

The animáis recovered from some of these hypoxic effeets if desacetil lanatoside C glucoside is ádministered in doses of 0.125 mg/kg.

Bradycardic and lengthening of QT and QRS are antagonized by the glycoside. This drugs also induced an augmentation of the diastolic and sistolic blood pressure.

We also found an increase of the K.+ and a decrease of the Na+ levels. 20 minutes after glycoside was given to the hypoxic animáis.

The action of the desacetil lanatoside C over the changes electrolitiques in myocardial hipoxia is significant from the stadistical view point.

On the other hand the drug induced cardiotoxic effeets because a marked increasc of excitability on the miocardium through the mobilization of catecholamines.
