Acid-base variables in the arterial blood of dogs in hypoxia treated with 2-oxo-5-hidroxy-carbonil-pentanoate of pyridoxine

Abstract
Acid-Base Variables in the Arterial Blood of Dogs in Hypoxia Treated With 2-oxo-5-h¡droxy-carbon¡l-pen- tanoate of Pyridoxine. Rev. esp. Fisiol., 30, 81-84. 1974.
We have studied the behaviour of 2-oxo-5-hidroxy-carbonil pentanoate of pyri doxine (OHCPP), constituted of alpha-keto-glutaric acid and vitamin B6 on the de- ficient metabolism of O2.
We have observed that after three hours of hypoxia on untreated animáis, there is a decrease of pO2 and of Buffer Base (B.B.), but an increase of pH producing re- spiratory alkalaemia with renal compensation. After 15 days of recuperation under normal ambient conditions, metabolic acidosis is produced, with respiratory com
pensation.
During the treatment with OHCPP, there is an increase of pCO2, of the concen-
tration of CO2H~, of pH and of B.B. with respect to the valúes of the recuperation, giving rise to metabolic alkalosis, with respiratory compensation.
Finally, after three hours of another exposure of hypoxia, the animáis which were treated showed a decrease of pCO2, (CO3H-)P and B.B. but an increase of pH, originating respiratory alkalaemia with renal compensation.
