Abstract

The authors review, in this work, the different techniques used for the evaluation of tocopherols, and analize the advantadges and the difficulties of every one of them.


They point out as the most practical, and not less exact than the others, that of Furter and Meyer, modified, which is based on the formation of a compound of a red colour, by oxidation of Vitamin E with nitric acid.


They suggest in their modification to use the unsaponificable obtained starting from about one gramme of product, instead of operating with the total lipides, as the original technique determined.
