Abstract

The injection of the live bacillus suspension to untreated rabbits causes the elimination through urine of prote asen especific for the bacillus and toxin substratum.

The injection of live bacillus suspension to rabbits treated with anatoxin causes also the production of proteasen, specific for the bacillus and toxin substratum.

The injection of live bacillus to vaccinated rabbits causes also the formation of both defensive enzymes.

The formation of defensive ferments is quicker for the bacillus protids than for those of the toxine.

The intensity of the reaction stands in inverse ratio to the gravity of the process.

The tests with live bacillus demonstrate the production of defensive ferments for the bacillus and toxin substratum; those effected with dead bacillus, only for bacillus substratum. These facts sustain the hypothesis that the toxin is formed by the bacillus metabolsm in the culture or in the appropriate medium in the animal organism.
