Abstract

A new micromethod based on the application pf the phenolphtalein-sodium-alpha hydroxysulfonate to the cuantitative colorimetric microanalysis of acetone, directly in total blood, is described. Blood is deproteinized by treating it with zinc borate and eliminating then all cause susceptible to bear influence on the pH of the problem and therefore on the colour developed by the reagent. In this way, a solution of disodium phosphate, acting as a buffer against the other components of the problem, is added and the pH of the same is thus fixed in the best conditions of colour development.
