Abstract

The three major newspapers of Finland reported and payed attention to the war between Spain and the United States. Initially they gave support to the United States because of the traditional prejudices envisaging Spain as a tyrannical and intolerant country. But as the war went on, the Spanish side and its courage was increasingly appreciated and, eventually, all the Finish newspapers were dissapointed by the economic, non humanitarian reasons of the United States´intervention.
