Ganivet's achievement as a playwright have not been fully discussed. Although there have been some significant studies about El escultor de su alma, critics have generally studied this play from a literary perspective. They have related this work, in particular, to Ganivet´s life and personality, disregarding its specific theatrical objectives and techniques. This analysis proposes a critical evaluations of Ganivet's dramatic discourse in El escultor de su alma.
