The article draws attention to this relevant figure of the time and to the cultural relations on the second half of the 16th century between the south of Italy and the Spanish spiritual current, favored by factors such as the natural environment favorable to the spiritual withdraw or the proliferation of religious orders in the zone. The diffusion of Azpilcueta’s work contributed to the methodological and humanist renovation in a zone of deep medieval roots.
