Abstract

50
Quevedo reflects his dislike towards these phrases—common places that destroy the will of style and the individuality—but uses them frequently. Arellano investigates the reasons given about this fact and studies the use of set phrases in the satirical and burlesque poetry of the author, in which two main values stand out: the cliché coined in its classic form in order to depict characters, evocate dialects, etc.; and a second grade of expressivity in which the rupture of the set phrase is produced, that brings out the exercise of the sharpness of concepts.
