This interview discusses Eagleton’s Why Marx Was Right (Yale University Press, 2011), his interpretations of Marx’s postulates in the light of the economic recession and state of capitalism in the fall of 2011, and other aspects of the critic’s prolific career. Issues debated include the mishaps of Western economics and politics, Postmodernism, Postcolonialism, the crisis of higher and mass education, religion and spirituality, Global Modernism and Eagleton’s former critical work and background as creative writer.
