This article analyzes poem LII of Trilce (1922) emphasizing the importance of the children’s language used by Vallejo in this as in other texts based on one of the fundamental poles of attraction of his poetry: the return to his native land, Santiago de Chuco, trope of the primordial community and prelude to the unity lost during adulthood and the author’s migratory experience. Vallejo achieves, through the use of the local Castilian of his childhood, a theatricalization of the referent that gives his poetry a unique aspect in the Latin American letters of the moment.
