La Perinola de Quevedo is probably the sharpest, fiercest work of literary criticism ever written. The name La Perinola: Revista de Investigación Quevediana is a tribute to the shrewdness (if not the ferocity) of Francisco de Quevedo.
It is intended to be a journal for critical review in its broadest sense, open to all articles that take any approach or perspective, provided that they contribute to a better understanding of a vast, varied, controversial and undoubtedly commendable body of work that is worthy, in our view, of its own journal.
La Perinola was conceived from the outset as a network for communication between Quevedo scholars who want to work together towards common aims and create a tool in the service of everyone, especially of Francisco de Quevedo and his works.
Its basic prerequisites are openness and academic rigor.
It will be accompanied by a series of appendices that will accept publications and studies that are in any way related to Quevedo. The first (Ocho poemas satíricos de Quevedo, by Fernando Plata) has already been released ahead of the journal itself, for editorial reasons. The invitation to contribute to La Perinola also applies to the series of appendices.
La Perinola is just beginning its journey, and we hope that, with everyone’s help, it has a long road ahead of it and that it manages to be both useful and enjoyable.
Free yourself, dear reader, of long prefaces and poor epithets.
