Abstract

136
The purpose of this essay is to examine the construction of the old mother figure in El Buscón from perspective of disability feminist theory. The analysis revises the discursive genealogy of representing women as disabled bodies in the Western world and proposes that the insertion of repulsive old women in the text responds to an aggressive intent to suppress the right to subjectivity in order to maintain the privileged identity position of the creator and the group that he represents.
