Abstract

194
By establishing continuous relationships of affinity and contrariety between the characters depicted in the text, Quevedo’s Vida de Marco Bruto applies to the study of history the notion of correspondence, pervasive in conceptista poetics. The method followed by the author puts into question the possibility of attaining a practical and effective knowledge of the historical world, thus manifesting that the idea of exemplarity is no longer viable
