Joseph Ratzinger’s Christology deals with the freedom of Jesus at various places in his work, although it is presented in short texts that may lend themselves to different interpretations. In this regard, the possible presence of a Monothelite orientation in his thought has been debated. In order to clarify this question, this article analyses these texts with the aim of determining the doctrine they contain and of coherently explaining the possible interpretative difficulties, in line with the theological perspective of the German author.
