Abstract

686
This research analyzes Vicente de Beauvais's work De eruditione filiorum nobilium. It is written in 1247 and constitutes the first treatise of systematic pedagogy of the medieval culture. The paper has three parts: the first analyzes the concept of education as process of restoration of the divine image in man; the second focuses on the familiar education, both social and matrimonial; the third part studies the education of women and the importance of celibacy. The work is practically unpublished in the Castilian historiography. This analysis is based on the file 10254 (Ii 2) (XIV), f. 65-118v. of the National Library of Madrid and on an incunabulum of 1477.
