Hyperglycemia threshold induced by the ingestion of fructose

Abstract
A study is carried out in university students of the minimum quantity of fructose capable of inducing, within half an hour, an appreciable increase of the blood sugar, the value of 5 to 6 cg. per Kg. body weight being found. With 6 to 8 cg. per Kg. total hyperglucemias are obtained which are froni 10 to 27 % higher than the initial ones, except a small percentage in which hyperglucemia is from 4 to 9 % over the starting point. The hyperglucemias obtained with 6 to 8 cg. per Kg, of glucose are perceptibly inferior to those obtained with the same quantities of fructose.
