Phenolphthalein in the analytical investigation of acetone. - Tests on the application of phenolphthalein-alpha-hydroxysulphonate in clinical analysis

Abstract
As consequence of studies, subject-matter of a previous paper, the authors have tested the use of the bisulphite compound of the phenolphtaleine, for the quantitative colorimetric microanalysis of acetone in urine and blood, by means of procedures which are characterized by a great simplicity and high specifity of the reagent. The possible practical usefulness of the new suitable analytical micromethod for clinical purposes is examined.
